What is a reverse osmosis system and how does it work? | CzystyStyl Guide

🧩 What is reverse osmosis?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most effective methods of purifying drinking water.
This technology uses a semi-permeable membrane through which water flows under pressure. It traps up to 99.8% of contaminants – such as chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, and microplastics.

As a result, you get crystal clear water, without the smell or taste of chlorine – ideal for drinking, coffee, tea and cooking.

⚙️ How does a reverse osmosis system work?

A typical RO system consists of several filtration stages:

  1. Pre-filter (sediment) – removes sand, rust and sediment.
  2. Activated carbon filter – absorbs chlorine, pesticides and unpleasant odors.
  3. Osmotic membrane – retains the smallest particles (even 0.0001 µm).
  4. (Optional) Post-filter or mineralizer – improves taste and adds minerals to the water.

The water after these stages is safe, clean and healthy – often better than bottled water .

💧 Is reverse osmosis water "dead"?

It is a very common myth that RO filtered water is “dead” or “valueless.”
In fact, this is not true .

The reverse osmosis system removes impurities and harmful substances from water,
such as chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria and microplastics.
It does not “kill” the water – it cleanses it of what should not be in it .

It is worth knowing that:

  • even after RO filtration, water retains the H₂O structure ,
  • the human body obtains most of its minerals from food , not from water,
  • many modern filters (e.g. Ecosoft Cross 90 Balance )
has a mineralizing filter that gently enriches the water with calcium and magnesium.

Effect?
👉 The water is clean, safe and biologically active ,
and thanks to mineralization – it has a natural, fresh taste , often better than bottled water.

🧠 Why is this water healthier than tap water?

Tap water, although formally meets sanitary standards,
contains disinfectants (chlorine, chloramines) and heavy metal residues from pipes (copper, lead, zinc).
Long-term consumption of such water can burden the body and affect the taste of food.

Reverse osmosis water:

  • is free from toxins and scale,
  • supports metabolism better,
  • improves the taste of coffee, tea and cooked dishes,
  • and is ideal for children, pregnant women and people with allergies .

🏠 Where is reverse osmosis used?

The RO system can be installed under the kitchen sink .
Modern models take up little space and do not require a water tank.
This ensures that they provide fresh water on an ongoing basis , without the risk of stagnation.

Ideal use:

  • single-family houses and apartments,
  • catering establishments,
  • offices, beauty and medical offices.

🌿 Why is it worth having an RO filter?

✔️ savings – no more buying bottled water,
✔️ better taste of coffee, tea and dishes,
✔️ less limescale build-up in the kettle and coffee machine,
✔️ environmental care – less plastic, less waste,
✔️ safety – removal of bacteria and heavy metals.
